It's been a while.

I had to improvise a bit on today's exam... there was a whole question on which I was totally in the dark. So, I looked at the equations given, tried to find the ones which solved for variables I was looking for, and plugged away.

I haven't had to do that in a while.. and I will study more rigorously in the future to avoid such things. They make me squirm.

Dammit! Must....pass....all....classes.......

On Galileo, Philosophy

As I revisit the man and his struggles with Philosophers and Theologists alike, I find that it's amazing how big of a deal they made of the simple theory that Earth was not stationary in space and the sun was. I mean, I'd just love to back to the Roman Inquisition in 1633 and give them a DVD PowerPoint presentation outlining Relativity and modern Astronomy. Because, in the end, we're all moving in a thousand different directions, being affected by gravitational forces millions of light years away, and this planet is one of billions. And then, when the pope called me a heretic, I'd pull out my Glock and Cap 'im in the leg, to teach him a lesson. And speed off in my Camaro.

Ah, progress.

Or, should it be a question... progress?
School is starting to suck again... mostly because of my as-yet unfinished MQP.

I got that candy paint drippin, dabbers spinnin; in the turnin lane
Diamonds shinin, fifth wheel reclinin; in the turnin lane
Screens fall, 24's crawl; in the turnin lane
You know me, I ain't trippin 'bout the laws; in the turnin lane
Me and Mellow pull up real slow; to the turnin lane
Whip lookin like it's in a car show; in the turnin lane
My neck wrist and fist filled with snow; in the turnin lane
Call me conceited cause I jam my own clothes; in the turnin lane
While I'm waitin I blow green and sip lean; in the turnin lane
Seems like this light ain't gon' never turn green; in the turnin lane
But I ain't rushin because I got time, try to keep up behind
and I'ma hit ya with that nine; see in the turnin lane
Piece and chain icy rang showin; in the turnin lane
Show my grills and diamonds start glowin; in the turnin lane
I'm jammin Screw music while I'm waitin; in the turnin lane
"Who is Mike Jones?" anticipated; in the turnin lane

More on diesel

What did they expect? They're diesel benz's.

100,000 Miles in 30 days

Just to prove the continued reliability and patronage to their early-80's brethren, Daimler puts three E320 CDI's to the test, running them at 145 mph (139.6mph average) for 30 days straight, achieving 18mpg average over the timespan. Fluids were changed 10 times over the 100k miles. They were mindful only of keeping the windows and jacking points clean, as well (of course) as polishing the Benz hood ornament at every pit stop.

"If the proportion of diesel-powered cars in the U.S. increased to 50 percent, as it is in Western Europe, we'd save 2.3 million barrels of crude oil per day."

"As we know from testing this engine on the street, acceleration is more than adequate, and torque even better, managed seamlessly by the seven-speed automatic. But what we haven't had much opportunity to do is drive at 260 km/h for an extended period of time, and that's telling: There is no indication — none — that you're driving a diesel. No clatter, no lag, no smoke."

"We drove multiple European models from San Antonio to Laredo, including an AMG-tuned CLK, and there is simply no downside to these modern diesel automobiles. Power is more than adequate, torque is of the stump-pulling variety..."

"Test-driver Rappoldt said that after 100,000 miles, the cars all felt a bit looser, but in a good way: "They were more comfortable to drive," as if all the parts had introduced themselves to each other and decided to work in harmony."

BITCHES!!!

Merz's '83 300SD made a believer of me, how about you?

Why don't we learn? Why, I ask? Why?
"Let the future tell the truth, and evaluate each one according to his work and accomplishments. The present is theirs; the future, for which I have really worked, is mine."

I've noticed lately that part of the volume of spam I recieve has been related to Katrina.

"We are a group of people that were left behind as the hurricane arrived, so we could
protect our interests. During this time we spent a great deal of effort battling broken
windows, incoming water, and flying debris.

The looters are insane - right outside of our window they're pushing around shopping
carts full of goods.

We have been documenting all of our experiences, taking pictures, and have a live streaming
webcam setup from downtown New Orleans."

It reminds me of back when we first invaded iraq, and I began getting spam saying things like: "Drunk horny IRAQI girls..." and "Iraqui penis enlargement pills!"

...or 9/11, when I got ones saying "drunk horny Al Quaeda girls!"
