Benzness plus KILLING!!!

Damn, I can't get over that. 3 tries and it was running! It was left for dead, for chrissakes!

Damn.

Moving along, I want to make an Unreal map of the Worcester Art Museum. The renaissance court would be a sweet deathmatch arena. Anyone have experience in this field? Or, experience in map design in a similarly cool FPS? It is likely something I will not ever actually complete...

But it would be totally sweet if I did make it! I could be a virtual disgruntled employee!

Anybody think this is a good idea?

I've been mapping for FPS games since DOOM II when I was a kid. My mom said it was a waste of time and a useless skill.

OR WAS IT?!?!?

I did very little drafting for Unreal, though. UnrealED is kinda a pain in the ass at times. Most of the times I've tried to make a real world location, I've found that it's hard for it to be good enough unless you have the proper dimensions, which are a major pain in the ass to get. Overall, I think making real-world locations is more trouble than it's worth if you don't already have a good reference like a to-scale floorplan or something.

Floor plan could possibly be acquired... like you say, though, more effort than its worth.

Google should get into the business of making 3D models of public buildings. And then turning them into Unreal maps.

No matter how much useless information there is out there, its never enough.
