I obviously haven't the conviction to make this blog live up to it's definition. As married as I am to the internet age, I can't manage to keep a steady stream of witty banter to sustain regular traffic. Sorry dude.
Anyways, the Pixies played live this past tuesday at UMass Amherst in the Mullins center. My sister and my mom were nice enough to buy me a ticket and stop in Worcester to bring me along. I have to admit I was a big dork and wore earplugs through the whole thing, excepting only the song "Caribou," which is totally badass. The opening acts were quite mediocre, especially the first band, the name of which I don't really care to know. The second, Mission to Burma, was a little better. I could tell their music might be alright in a more discernable setting, but the acoustics in a basketball stadium are less than ideal. The guy at the boards must have fallen asleep for half the show, because it magically sounded much better when the headliners got on stage. I was glad that my ears were not ringing at the end, even if I did look like a loser with earplugs.
If you're into the Pixies, you may also want to check out Modest Mouse. Good stuff.
Or, on the total opposite side of the spectrum, the Scat man! May he rest in peace. Bee bop bop bada bo!
